The History of John Deere

The John Deere history goes back to the 1800s. John Deere also known as Deere & Company is an American corporation that is based in the city of Moline located in the US state of Illinois. This company is known to be leading manufacturer of agricultural machinery worldwide.

The history of John Deere in the 19th century began on February 7th of 1804, when founder John Deere moved from his hometown Rutland, Vermont to Gran Detour, Illinois in 1836. He moved to that state to escape from bankruptcy in Vermont. John Deere opened a shop on 1837 in Grand Detour as an established Blacksmith, which allowed him to serve as the repairman in the village and he was the manufacturer of small tools such as: Shovels, pitchforks, etc. Deere was the pioneered of the steel plow in 1836. His production of plows began slowly, but increased greatly when he departed from his traditional business of model making equipment. Now they were ordered and he began to manufacture plows before they were ordered.

In 1886 John Deere died and the presidency of the company was passed to his son by the name of Charles Deere.
